Lodging & Camping
The enchanting Butler Lodge, situated atop a hill, stands as an attraction in its own right. Each of the 53 rooms boasts a private balcony or patio, offering captivating views of the pool or hillside.
Winter Information:
- Lodge Closure: Sunday night through Wednesday morning.
- Campground Operations: Open, but water to the sites is turned off. Bathhouses remain open.
- Room Availability: Rooms are ready by late afternoon. Check-out is by 11 a.m., local time.
- Pet-Friendly Options: Standard lodge rooms and cottages are available for guests with pets (fee applies). Limit of two pets per room/cottage.
- Additional Lodging: Explore 24 one, two, and three-bedroom cottages. Cottages require a 2-night minimum stay seven days a week.
- Campground Facilities: Over 100 campsites with utility hookups and grills. Showers and restrooms are accessible at two central service buildings, with one laundry facility.
- Winter Camping: Call for reservations during the winter months.

Butler-Turpin State Historic House
General Butler State Resort Park is home to the preserved Butler-Turpin Historic Home, constructed in 1859.
This Federal-style brick residence features eight spacious rooms, two wide halls, a third-floor attic, and a generous basement area. The house showcases a collection of period pieces and family heirlooms, with an attached outdoor kitchen.
To embark on a tour of this historic home, acquire tickets at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time from the lodge front desk.

Woodland Trail

Boy Scout Trail
A 0.25-mile trail links the Butler-Turpin State Historic House to the Fossil Trail, offering a hiking alternative for accessing the Fossil Trail.

Kentucky River Lock #1 Trail
A one-mile trail connects the park’s archery range to the Lock on the Kentucky River.

The trail traverses open fields and old hardwood forests behind stone structures, providing scenic views overlooking the highest point in the county.
