Pine Mountain State Resort Park

Perched atop the Kentucky Ridge State Forest, this stunning mountaintop resort became Kentucky’s inaugural state park in 1924. Offering accommodations in rooms and cottages, as well as a variety of amenities including hiking trails and a golf course.

Winter Operations:

  • Lodge: Open Wednesday through Sunday
  • Cabins: Open seven days a week
  • Restaurant: Open for dinner on Thursdays through to lunch on Sundays

Birding: Explore the diverse avian species found on the Cumberland Plateau, including breeding warblers, ruffed grouse, and ravens. Witness the peak migration of warblers in spring and observe Neotropical migrant birds nesting in summer.

Gift Shop: Browse through a selection of Kentucky-made candies, jellies, and souvenirs available for purchase in the lobby.

Golf: Experience the championship Wasioto Winds 18-hole golf course, ranked nationally by Golf Digest in 2004. Enjoy the scenic links-style course nestled in the mountains, with wide cart paths, practice facilities, and golf packages offered year-round.

Hiking: Discover 12 miles of self-guided trails on Pine Mountain, leading to landmarks like Chained Rock, Hemlock Garden, and other scenic spots such as Honeymoon Falls, Rock Hotel, and Timber Ridge.

Miniature Golf: Challenge your family to a round of miniature golf on the 9-hole course, open from April 1st to October 31st.

Outdoor Theater: Rent the Laurel Cove Amphitheater for warm-season weddings, gatherings, and performances, set in a lush and peaceful environment.

Picnicking: Enjoy picnics at scenic locations across the park, with amenities including tables, grills, restrooms, and covered shelters available near Laurel Cove and Dogwood Shelter. Shelters can be rented up to three years in advance.

Swimming: Take a refreshing dip in the lodge pool, exclusively available to overnight park guests. Open daily from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Please note that no lifeguards are on duty.

Discover the timeless charm of Herndon J. Evans Lodge at Pine Mountain Resort, one of Kentucky’s original state parks, boasting exquisite craftsmanship in stone and wood. Each of the 30 rooms features a private patio or balcony, offering stunning views of the mountains. Open year-round, the lodge holds a AAA 3-Diamond rating and welcomes pets. Additionally, the park offers 21 cottages for accommodations.

Winter Operations: Open Wednesday through – Sunday until March 1st.
